Light is shed on the job situation
Jun. 6th, 2007 01:09 pmI had a conversation with Karen, my job share coworker today. It was about Anna, the girl I am relieving returning to work. Karen had no idea that this meant that I was not being kept on. It appears that Anna is only returning to work one day a week to see how she copes.
Karen was advised this morning that I would be finishing up on the 19th. She asked Des, our manager if I was ok with that, and he said he had no idea. That his boss, Jochen, had told me on Monday. Karen has said to him that she will not go back to working 4 days a week again, she will stick to 3 days.
She thinks that there is a power struggle going on between Jochen and Des, and thats why I'm being let go. I think Jochen wants to be rid of me. Call it a hunch, he dislikes anyone who does not respond to 'jump' with 'how high sir'.
So. I am a casualty of power politics.
*sigh*
Based on that, I'm not sure I'd want to stay for any reason other than absolutely mercenary ones.
